Born in Fukuoka in 1935; brought up in Yokohama
At the age of 21, initiated as shamisen player of Bunraku puppet show; later switched to reciter
Debuted in Kabuki-za theater in October 1974
Completed Takemoto Training Program as Member of Inaugural Class in 1978
Won National Theater Prize for his Performance in gChinsetsu Yumiharizukih in 1987
Appeared in gHeisei Nakamura-za theaterh led by Kanzaburo NAKAMURA; and attracted many younger fans
Member of the Organization for the Preservation of Kabuki; Member of the Gidayu Association; Instructor of the Training Course in the National Theater
